The College of Global Futures at Arizona State University empowers students to design informed, impactful solutions for a sustainable and equitable world. Its mission is to foster learning, discovery, and partnerships that drive positive action and create a vibrant future for everyone on a thriving planet. As a transdisciplinary hub, it brings together four schools—Sustainability, Innovation in Society, Complex Adaptive Systems, and Ocean Futures—to tackle pressing social, environmental, and technological challenges.
The College of Global futures is part of the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, the first university-based initiative aimed at ensuring a habitable planet and well-being for all humanity. Students and faculty collaborate with global partners to translate research into real-world solutions, whether in climate resilience, ethical innovation, or marine conservation. With access to world class scholars and immersive learning environments across Arizona and international sites, graduates leave prepared to lead meaningful change across the globe.
The School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership at ASU encourages students to explore foundational questions about freedom, governance, and public responsibility through a curriculum centered on classic texts and values-based learning. Modeled on the Socratic method, SCETL fosters rigorous analytical and communication skills to prepare future leaders for civic engagement (scetl.asu.edu). Launched in 2017 under the leadership of founding director Paul Carrese, the school merged ASU’s existing centers focused on political and economic thought to develop a cohesive academic department.
SCETL hosts the Civic Discourse Project and international intensive programs such as the Global immersion Experience study and travel opportunities, that bring diverse voices and real-world civic experiences into the classroom. The school also supports research through its affiliated Centers for American Civics and Economic Liberty and the Central European Cultural Collaborative, aiming to deepen understanding of political philosophy, liberal democracies, and economic systems.

It is the top-ranked program for minors within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (silc.asu.edu). Students gain global competence through study abroad opportunities and unique language scholarships that support immersive, real world learning.
